Standard Lesotho Bank Youth Dialogue Award 2023

Centre for Accounting Studies scooped the Standard Lesotho Bank National Youth Dialogue Competition, and placed 1st position out of 6 tertiary institutions which participated. Team CAS walked away with a total amount of M40 000.00, plus M8 000.00 for each of the participants as well as 40GB to be loaded to participants’ accounts, for a duration of 3 months.

The event was held on Wednesday, 18th November 2023 at Manthabiseng Convention Centre, under the topic: How can Lesotho Transition from being an import dependent economy to a self-sufficient one?

This award-winning idea was birthed by a team of 4 brilliant minds, with Temansele Lineo Zwane and Nthatisi Majoro being the engines behind its moulding, and Mpeoane Joy Mahase and @Ronald Wiseman Kekane further being presenters who excellently sold the team’s vision of Lesotho establishing a State-of-art Diamond Innovation and Technology Park. The idea provided a picture of how the country can benefit from extracting its diamonds and processing them before exporting to international markets. Currently, the country exports raw/unprocessed diamonds to international markets, only to import them back at a higher cost post processing. Indeed, this was considered a million-dollar idea. The team brought it home!

Thanks to the CAS Team that coached the presenters to be the best that they were. Congratulations to the CAS Community!
