DRIVER/ MESSENGER

RESPONSIBLE FOR: transporting CAS’ staff on all authorized official trips.

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

 

To transport CAS staff, students, students and supplies to all approved official trips and provide support in the delivery and collection of mail, banking and logistical needs of the instituition.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. DUTIES

 

 

1.    Drive any CAS vehicle on only official CAS business as directed by Management and also ensure that the vehicles are used for official assignments only.

 

2.    Ensure that students are transported on their educational visits and any other authorised trips safely.

 

3.    Drive CAS staff on all official authorized business trips.

 

4.    Deliver mail to and from the post office; hand delivers local mail and obtains signatures in the delivery book.

 

5.    Collects supplies from suppliers for CAS use e.g. from the bookstores, wholesale etc.

 

6.    Undertakes routine administrative and minor maintenance tasks related to vehicles: makes correct entries in the log books; gains authorization for journeys; requests purchase orders for fuel, fill up vehicles with fuel; checks oil and water levels, check tyre pressure.

 

7.    Ensure safety, cleanliness and roadworthiness of all CAS vehicles in order to optimize service delivery.

 

8.    Advice the Registrar about expired license disks for adherence with road and traffic regulations.

 

9.    Inform the Registrar of any repairs and service requirements.

 

10.  Generally takes good care of CAS vehicles.

 

11.  Undertakes any other relevant duties as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS, ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

 

 

Minimum qualification at least COSC, must possess a full endorsed Light Motor Vehicle license, public license and defensive driver’s license. Must have a ten (10) years driving experience. Basic English proficiency required. Must be of sober habits and good with time management. Must be able to read and write both Sesotho and English.

Driver and Messenger should demonstrate a client orientated approach, tact and ability to work with people with different backgrounds.
